G&L SC 3 1980er Jahre



G&L Guitars are the evolution of the electric guitars created by Leo Fender in the 1950s. After selling the Fender guitar company in 1965, Leo Fender, along with his partner George Fullerton, started the G&L company in the late 1970s. The name G&L stands for George and Leo. The G&L line of guitars were the successors to the famous Fender line of guitars, such as the Stratocaster and Telecaster, but were also updated with many new design improvements.

This early 1980s SC-3 model is a unique example of G&L craftsmanship in that it resembles several different Fender guitar styles from the past. It has a body similar to a Fender Mustang, control knobs of a Fender Telecaster, and three single coil pick-ups and selector similar to a Fender Stratocaster.

Leo FenderNewly designed Magnetic Field Design (MFD) pick-ups were implemented as an improvement to the standard single coil pickups that had been on traditional Fender guitars, each with a magnet height capable of being adjusted individually per string. The resulting sound quality is excellent and the tonal range is fuller and heavier sounding compared to a typical Fender Stratocaster or Telecaster. It also has a Dual Fulcrum vibrato unit that sounds great and stays in tune well.

Even though the G&L SC series was marketed as a student model, it actually is a high quality, professional grade instrument utilizing higher end materials: wood, pickups, and electronics. Compared to the Fender student models, the G&L SC series is more highly valued and comparable to professional grade models but with fewer extras. G&Ls were the last series of guitars made by Leo Fender before his death in 1991 and are still made today. They are considered among some of the best instruments Leo Fender ever made.
